Forgotten Chapters

a 2003 clone wars era fanzine

PRE-ORDERS CLOSED - PRODUCTION PENDING

About

⌖ The Forgotten Chapters zine was created within a Discord server where fans came together to share their love and appreciation for Star Wars. It became a topic of discussion that there are still some parts of Star Wars that just don't get as much love as others, and one of those is the 2003 Clone Wars micro-series. While we all love the 2008 Clone Wars, there are some characters and events that have become forgotten within the major fandom both from the series and from the comics. The goal of this zine is to bring together fans who want to show appreciation to the original Clone Wars while also giving back.
⌖ The zine got the name Forgotten Chapters for how the 2003 micro-series used to be released as 25 individual chapters on Cartoon Network before it was condensed into Volume 1 and Volume 2. The forgotten part was a play on how most people tend to forget about the 2003 series.

faq

What is a zine?
A zine (shortened from magazine) is a collection of contents (writings, artworks) in one book/booklet and is usually a collaborative work. There have been many zines organized based on various fandoms, from ships, AUs, What-Ifs, slices of life and so on. Depending on the nature of the zines, they are put up for sale and usually, the sales are donated to a selected charity that will be announced by the organizer(s).

What is this zine about?
The Forgotten Chapters fanzine is about the 2003 Clone Wars era, with characters appearing in the Tartakovsky micro series, and the related comics of the time - Star Wars Republic, Star Wars Obsession, and Star Wars Clone Wars Adventures - and the 5 Karen Traviss Republic Commando novels.

Is the zine going to be for-profit?
No. All proceeds that do not go towards manufacturing or shipping will be donated to Direct Relief.
No mods or contributors will be paid.

★ Who is creating this zine?
You can see the full list of current mods and contributors here.

★ What is the timeline/schedule?
The schedule is above. Currently the pre-orders have been delayed but set to open in January of 2024.

★ Will the zine be digital or physical?
The zine will be both physical and digital with corresponding merch.

Is this zine SFW?
Yes, this zine will feature strictly safe-for-work pieces.

What kind of content will be in this zine?
This zine welcomes all sorts of content including fluff, romance, humor, angst, and more. Content for both writing and art should stay closer to the teen rating. Mentions of or minimal amounts of canon-typical violence, blood, gore, and strong language are okay, but not anything extreme or detailed. Any sexual content would be suggestive as this is a SFW zine and, hopefully, family friendly. None of the major AO3 warnings should be applicable to the content created for the zine.

★ Will this zine have guest contributors?
Yes, there are guest contributors. You can see them and the full contributor list here.

Will you be considering lesser known writers and artists? Can anyone apply? Do I need experience?
Anyone can apply, no experience is needed. The goal of this zine is to be as inclusive as possible! We will be considering applicants through the quality of their submissions.

Is there a minimum age requirement for contributors?
Contributors should be 16+ years of age.

★ How big will the zine be? How many stories and how much art will be in the zine? How many artists/writers are you looking for?
At this time, we anticipate the zine to be 90-100 pages long. We have 12 writers and 53 artists (merch, page, guests) and 2 unannounced special guests.

How much will shipping be? Where do you ship to?
Shipping rates will be determined once we know how big the zine will be (as shipping is usually determined by weight) and also merch.

Will you ship worldwide?
Yes we will.

Are AUs permitted?
AU's will not be allowed in the zine.

Will the zine allow characters form the 2008 Clone Wars?
No. The focus of the zine is the 2003 Clone Wars micro-series and any Legends comics and novels that focus on the period of the Clone Wars.

★ Do artists have to draw in the Tartakovsky style?
No, asrtists do not have to draw in the style of the 2003 show.
But a few of them did :)

★ Could artists contribute multiple pieces to the zine? For example, create one for the zine itself and one for merch?
Yes, some artists contributed multiple works to the zine along with collaborations between artists and writers.

Can we reimagine characters from the 2008 series in this style to fit the theme?
No. Only characters that originated from the 2003 Clone Wars or any Legends material prior to the 2008 show will be permitted in the zine.

If we were to write for the zine, what are the minimum and maximum word requirements for those stories?
Fic submissions will be between 500-2500 words. However, we also accept poetry and song lyrics.

How will zine contributors keep in touch with each other?
Our primary form of communication will be through Discord and email. Announcements will be sent out through email, our social media accounts (Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr), and Discord throughout the duration of the zine. Contributors that wish to collaborate will be put in contact with each other via Discord.

Shop and Shipping Policies

⌖ Once an order is placed you should receive an email confirming your purchase.
⌖ Since these are open pre-orders we currently do not have a set time for when the product will be sent to our shipping mod. Our current hope is to receive everything and start packing orders in late spring of 2024.
⌖ Calls for any address changes will be sent prior to bundles being shipped out.
⌖ When orders begin to ship out you will receive an email with a tracking number. If the number does not work for you please send us an email with your order information.
⌖ Once your package has been dropped off it is out of our hands. Any problems with your package while in transit is not our responsibility and you should contact your mail carrier first.
⌖ If a package has been lost or severely damaged we will try to help but we make no guarantees as any extra supplies will be extremely limited.
⌖ Those that ordered a digital only bundle will receive an email with their purchase around the same time physical orders start arriving to those who purchased a physical copy. This is to ensure that mostly everyone gets to see the zine at around the same time.
⌖ Leftover sales are NOT a guarantee. While we aim to have some extra stock in case of any production or shipping errors that quantity will be severely limited and not all physical products from our bundles will for sure be in a leftover sale.
